I was inspired by the two symmetrical vacant historical buildings on campus at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. I was told that the buildings cannot be torn down or fixed. I thought the vacant buildings could emphasize this poem I wrote that had themes of grief, time and romanticism. Repurposing the methods of advertising ads on buildings. The poem is broken up into pieces and displayed onto different parts of the entrances of each building.

The inevitable is voyeuristic.
She tells me my fate and watches me sink.
I wouldn’t try to stop her.
I’ve already learned to lose.

I’m marinated in cruel intentions
I know nothing about life and even less about love.

It’s dead & done.

Test my patience
If I gave you control...
If I made it too hard for you...
I’d say I was wrong.
But change can be amazing.
Hesitation kills.
I couldn’t save this...

Those moments too soon.
They’re just a moment too soon.
They were nothing more than a moment too soon.

Those seconds too late.
They’re just a second too late.
They were nothing more than a second too late.

I hope you can find a way to be yourself someday.
In weakness or in strength.
